Scenes from North Florida Launch of Melted Away

Barbara Drake-Vera reading at the Matheson History Museum, 4/17/24

I had a phenomenal time introducing my book to North Florida readers at the Matheson History Museum on April 17.

We had a sizeable crowd for a midweek book event, and the museum sold nearly all the books they ordered — which was gratifying to this first-time author!

Environmental writer Cynthia Barnett hosted the launch party, and my husband/photographic collaborator Jorge Vera managed all the behind-the-scenes logistics, including taking photos and uncorking the wine.

Thank you to everyone who showed up in person and virtually.

If you haven’t read MELTED AWAY, please get a copy and do so. It’s available at the usual places. Plus, you can do me a favor and request that your local library get a copy, in physical or ebook form.

You can also support me by submitting a review to Goodreads and/or Amazon. Let others know what the experience of reading MELTED AWAY is like so they can put it on their reading list.

A note about the photo above: I’m covid cautious due to health conditions. I used 4 far UVC lights to keep the air relatively virus free while I signed books unmasked. I am grateful that I can afford to use technology to keep me safe. I also support my readers who wear masks, like I do in most indoor situations.
